South Dakota enumerates the certified nurse practitioner scope as a list of powers ADDED to the registered nurse scope. Within the CNP role and population focus, a certified nurse practitioner may conduct an advanced assessment; order and interpret diagnostic procedures; establish primary and differential diagnoses; and prescribe, order, administer and furnish therapeutic measures — including diagnosing, prescribing and instituting therapy or referrals, and prescribing, procuring, administering and furnishing pharmacological agents, over-the-counter, legend and controlled drugs listed on Schedule II included.
