“Med spa compliance software” means two different things
If you searched that phrase, you are probably looking for one of two products — and they solve opposite halves of the same worry. One keeps the inside of your practice in order. The other tells you when the rules outside it move. Here is the difference, plainly, so you can buy the right one. MedSpaRadar is only the second kind, and this page will send you away if that is not what you need.
Operational compliance
Practice-management software
Runs the practice and evidences what you did: scheduling, electronic records, consent forms, charting, e-prescribe, HIPAA-compliant storage. AestheticsPro, Zenoti and Mangomint are three vendors in this category; there are many, and this is not a ranking or a recommendation.
Entry tier around $160/month (AestheticsPro Pro-Plus (their entry tier), their published rate, Aug 2026)
- Scheduling, calendars, and client booking
- Electronic records and a customizable form library
- E-prescribe, telemedicine, texting, and marketing tools
What it does not do: tell you that the rule you were complying with has changed. That happens outside your practice, so it happens outside this software.
Regulatory compliance
Regulatory monitoring
Watches the instruments that set the rules — 11 sources, all 50 state legislatures, the FDA and the Federal Register — and tells you what changed and what to do about it. MedSpaRadar is this.
Free weekly Brief · Solo-State from $39/mo · one document, once, $49
- Who may inject, and under whose supervision, in your state
- Whether a compounded GLP-1 or peptide still has a legal basis
- Ownership and corporate-practice limits on the business itself
- The step to take on each change, linked to the statute it came from
What it does not do: book an appointment, store a chart, or hold a consent form. It is not a records system and never will be.
They fail in different directions. Bad records lose you a defence. A missed rule change removes the thing you were defending. That is why the two are not alternatives, and why nobody should be talked out of the one they actually came for.
What “the rules changed” actually means
Regulatory risk for an aesthetic practice is not one thing. Every state makes the same seven decisions about you — that is The Practice Perimeter, and each decision moves through a different instrument on its own timetable:
- 1Ownership — Who is allowed to own this business, and in what corporate form?
- 2Oversight — Which physician relationship does the state require, and what must that physician actually do?
- 3Intake — What has to happen before a patient can be treated, and can any of it be remote?
- 4Who treats — Which license may perform which treatment, and under whose order?
- 5Facility — Does the premises itself have to be registered or licensed?
- 6Marketing — What may this practice claim about its services, its staff, and their credentials?
- 7Enforcement — What happens when one of the six above is crossed?
No practice-management platform tracks any of these, because none of them happen inside your practice.
Questions people ask
- What is med spa compliance software?
- The phrase covers two different products. Practice-management platforms handle OPERATIONAL compliance — electronic records, consent forms, charting, scheduling, HIPAA-compliant storage — and are priced from roughly $160/month at the entry tier (AestheticsPro's published rate, Aug 2026). Regulatory monitoring handles a different question: whether the rule you are complying with has changed. MedSpaRadar is the second kind. Most practices need both, and neither substitutes for the other.
- Does practice-management software tell me when a law changes?
- Generally no, and it is not built to. Those platforms are built to store and structure what happens inside your practice — appointments, charts, consents, records. Whether your state has changed who may perform a treatment, or whether a compounded substance lost its legal basis, happens outside your practice and outside that software. That is what a monitoring service watches for.
- What does MedSpaRadar actually do?
- It polls 11 sources daily — all 50 state legislatures, the FDA, and the Federal Register — scores each change for relevance to aesthetic practices, has a human review it, and publishes what changed in plain language with a link to the primary source. Members get the specific step to take for their states in one daily email. It currently holds 118 material changes on record and 2140 statute-cited rules across 51 states. It is regulatory monitoring, not legal advice, and it is not practice-management software.
- Do I need both?
- Most practices that offer injectables or medical weight loss do. Practice-management software is how you run the practice and evidence what you did; regulatory monitoring is how you find out that what you did is no longer allowed. They fail in different directions: bad records lose you a defence, a missed rule change removes the thing you were defending.

MedSpaRadar is regulatory monitoring and reference: it summarizes public laws, regulations and agency actions and links each to its source. It is not legal, medical, or compliance advice, and using it creates no attorney-client relationship. A summary can lag its source or leave out detail, and monitoring itself can be interrupted — so an absence of alerts means nothing reached you, not that nothing happened. Read the cited source, check its effective date, and confirm any change to your operations or clinical practice with qualified health-law counsel and your medical director. MedSpaRadar is not practice-management software. AestheticsPro, Zenoti and Mangomint are independent companies with no affiliation to MedSpaRadar; the pricing shown is AestheticsPro’s published rate as of Aug 16, 2026 and may have changed.
