Who may operate a cosmetic laser in Louisiana?
Oversight · part of The Practice Perimeter
Short answer
Not a cosmetologist or esthetician — no license or permit issued by the cosmetology board authorizes the use of lasers or any FDA-classified medical device in a salon. The cited rules do not settle which medical licensees may operate one.
No license or permit issued by the board authorizes the performance of any of the following services in a salon licensed by the board: use of lasers; the use of any mechanical or electrical apparatus classified as a medical devise by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

← All Louisiana rules and changes · MedSpaRadar is regulatory monitoring and reference: it summarizes public laws, regulations and agency actions and links each to its source. It is not legal, medical, or compliance advice, and using it creates no attorney-client relationship. A summary can lag its source or leave out detail, and monitoring itself can be interrupted — so an absence of alerts means nothing reached you, not that nothing happened.
